Darren’s journey into motorsport began at just five years old, growing up in London and attending races at Crystal Palace with his uncle. His passion only grew from there — at school, a friend’s father was a marshal at Brands Hatch, giving him regular access to the circuit. It was here he first witnessed Gerry Marshall driving the iconic “Baby Bertha” — a moment that left a lasting impression. Watching Marshall slide sideways through Druids, separated from the action by nothing more than a chestnut paling fence, remains an unforgettable memory.

Despite being around motorsport for most of his life — enjoying track days and supporting friends in historic racing across Europe — it wasn’t until his 60th birthday that he took the plunge and obtained his racing licence. He completed his test at a frosty Knockhill, with the added challenge of carefully avoiding the icy patches on track.

In 2024, Darren purchased an MGB — a car with strong ties to Equipe, having competed in the series since its early days. Since then, he has regularly travelled down from Scotland to race, embracing every moment of the experience. A standout highlight so far has been racing at Portimão in 2025, although Brands Hatch GP remains a firm favourite.

Now heading into his third season, Darren is delighted to be part of the Equipe Championship and continues to enjoy every minute of life on track.
