John has been racing since 2004, beginning — like many — in an MGB. Since those early days, his motorsport career has spanned an impressive range of machinery, including a Healey 3000, Lotus Elite, and two seasons in single-seater racing with a Lotus 41 carrying genuine Monaco history.

John’s current racing programme features an exciting and diverse line-up, including a Corvette, Volvo P1800, MGA, and a Zakspeed Group 2 Escort. Among these, the Escort has become his clear favourite — revving to 9,000 rpm, running on 10-inch grippy rubber, and offering a level of agility and feedback that makes it hard to beat.

When it comes to circuits, John enjoys a mix of speed, flow, and outright challenge. Silverstone GP is a favourite for its fast, flowing corners and wide-open spaces, while Brands Hatch GP stands out for its technical, wooded sections. Spa-Francorchamps completes the list, offering a unique test of bravery — not least the sheer terror of Eau Rouge.

John’s racing hero is Jenson Button, admired not only for his talent behind the wheel but for his positive outlook — a driver who, in John’s view, gets out of bed every day with a smile on his face.
