Driver Bio – David Moran
David has been car-mad since childhood, though it wasn’t until his thirties that he was able to fully indulge his passion. His early performance car ownership included a Ferrari 348, followed by a Ferrari 355, and later a Porsche 996 GT3, alongside other memorable machinery.
Living and working in Dubai for nearly 20 years, David’s enthusiasm took a particularly bold turn when he imported a Radical Tracksport and successfully managed to have it road registered. Unsurprisingly, it attracted enormous attention — especially when used for everyday tasks like going shopping.
That Radical marked the beginning of his racing career. With the opening of the Dubai Autodrome, David purchased a Radical SR3 Supersport and competed in the Gulfsport Championship, an experience he recalls as hugely enjoyable.
After retiring in 2009, David returned to the UK and acquired a 1965 Mk1 Lotus Cortina, which he raced for several years alongside Nigel Greensall. While those seasons were driven more by enjoyment than outright competitiveness, his approach has evolved significantly since partnering with Alex Read. This new chapter coincided with the purchase of a 1965 Ford Mustang Notchback — a car with remarkable provenance, having previously been raced successfully by Alan Mann, Sir John Whitmore, and Craig Davies, among others.
Until the Mustang arrived, the Cortina was David’s favourite car — famously tail-out and perpetually sideways. However, after just two tests with the Mustang, affectionately known as “Mustang Sally,” it has firmly taken that title.
David’s racing hero is Sir Stirling Moss, and he considers it a great honour to have met him at the NEC in 2015, alongside the Cortina that Moss himself had once raced at Goodwood.
Away from the track, David’s tastes are straightforward — when it comes to biscuits, nothing beats a classic chocolate chip cookie.
Driver Bio – Alex Read
Alex Read is the Head of Motorsport at Caterham Cars Ltd, bringing extensive experience from both competitive racing and motorsport leadership. His racing journey began in 2007 in karting, competing in TKM 4-stroke, before progressing into car racing in 2010 with a Vauxhall Nova.
Over the course of his career, Alex has driven a wide variety of machinery, but his standout favourite remains the legendary 1956 Maserati 250F — a car that perfectly represents the golden era of Grand Prix racing. When it comes to circuits, Brands Hatch tops his list, valued for its history, rhythm, and unforgiving nature.
Alex draws inspiration from drivers at opposite ends of the motorsport spectrum, citing Jenson Button for his smooth precision and race-craft, and Shane van Gisbergen for his versatility and relentless competitiveness.
Away from the track, Alex is no stranger to endurance challenges of a different kind — including once riding a unicycle 100 miles for charity, a feat that speaks volumes about his determination and sense of adventure. As for race-day snacks, his biscuit of choice is the classic chocolate Hobnob.
